MORE ABOUT MILD STEEL TIG WELDING WIRES
What is the difference between A15 & A18 TIG filler rods?
A15 TIG wire (ER70S-2)
- A copper coated triple de-oxidised mild steel TIG filler rod perfect for welding a variety of mild and low alloy steels.
- Produces clean, spatter free welds with excellent bead appearance and suitable for mill scaled & rusty plate.
- Delivers robust mechanical properties for high strength welds.
- Ideal for TIG root runs on heavy vessels & for pipe welding.
- A15 is the gold standard for high integrity applications.
- Offers great ductility than A18 with improved bendability.
A18 TIG wire (ER70S-6)
- A copper coated, manganese-silicon alloyed filler rod, suitable for welding medium carbon steels and those minimum yield strength of 420 MPa.
- Provides excellent resistance to cracking, ensuring long lasting weld integrity.
- Minimizes impurities and delivers smooth, high quality welds with a flatter bead and reduced post weld clean up.
- A18 TIG filler wire is perfect for heavy duty applications, including TIG welding of pressure vessels, shipbuilding and industrial equipment repair, where high strength is paramount.
- A higher level of de-oxidizers in A18 means it handles dirtier steel better than A15.
