We recommend IFA welding smoke filter units certified W3, as they offers a minimum specification hallmark around air flow rates, filter efficiency & filter alarms.
There are two types of portable welding extraction units available; filter or self cleaning. Where fume levels are relatively low, such as in a maintenance environment, a filter unit such as the Kemper Smartmaster would do the job, as the churn on welding filter replacement would be low. However, for a more industrial fabrication shop would ideally suit a self-cleaning unit akin to the Protectoxtra. This cartridge based model allows you to blow the metal particulate into a waste bin for disposal and reduces ongoing maintenance costs to the minimum.
With a good number of portable extraction choices in the market place, choosing the correct one for your application can be tricky. Our Technical field engineers, can visit site, perform a Welding fume survey, recommend and install the correct unit with an LEV test.
