And finally, if you wanted to try your hand at some Stainless Steel TIG welding.Steve Irwin, our in house demonstrator, offers seven helpful tips and some TIG machine recommendations: 1. Use a quality TIG inverter: One with good strike up that holds it’s arc well. 2. Make sure you use High frequency(HF)for good strike up-No tungsten touching or sticking to material. 3. Ensure a good earth connection: Clean the surface around where the earth clamp is fitted. 4. Use a TIG gas diffuser-gives better gas coverage around the weld pool. 5. Weld with a quality TIG rod: 316L would do nicely. 6. Correct gas coverage: Use a flow meter on your regulator to give an accurate setting(8 -12 litres per minute). 7. Pulsed TIG welding helps: Less heat into the material, so less distortion. 8. Recommended machines: The Miller Maxstar 200DX or Ewm PICOTIG 180. | ||
