Select your welding cable from the following amperage ratings:

16 square mm. welding cable: a continuous rating of 110 amps.
25 square mm. welding cable: a continuous rating of 170 amps.
35 square mm. welding cable: a continuous rating of 240 amps.
50 square mm. welding cable: a continuous rating of 345 amps.
70 square mm. welding cable: a continuous rating of 485 amps.

Don't forget, it's not just just the amperage of your welding set that determines the thickness of your welding cable. The distance between the power source and the work piece is a factor in determining the welding cable size required too: If the length of your cable increases the voltage drops and the thickness of the cable will need to be increased, to allow the full welding current to pass down it.
